The Material
Defines the Texture

Plaster sculpts shadow. Oil builds buttery depth. Acrylic freezes bold energy. Each material creates a fundamentally different visual and tactile experience — and every piece is applied entirely by hand on real canvas.

3D Wall Art

Hand-sculpted 3D wall art with real physical depth you can see and feel. Our studio artists layer architectural-grade plaster, gesso, and modeling paste directly onto canvas — building ridges, contours, and surfaces that cast genuine shadows as natural light moves through your room.

This is not printed texture. Every ridge is shaped by hand. Every shadow is real. The artwork changes with the light — morning to evening, it is never the same piece.

Plaster & Gesso

Plaster and gesso are our signature materials — the foundation of Artomira's identity as a textured wall art studio. From white-on-white sculptural reliefs to earth-toned organic forms, plaster creates the most dramatic light-and-shadow interaction of any wall art material.
Best for: Minimalist interiors, wabi-sabi spaces, Japandi design, gallery walls, commercial lobbies, and any room with strong natural side-light.

UV Sealed Archival Varnish

  • Structural Sketch

The artist maps the sculptural form directly onto primed Belgian linen canvas — defining contour lines, depth zones, and shadow fall.

  • Base Layer

First coat of architectural plaster mixed with flexible bonding agent. This foundation layer creates the broad topography of the piece. Cures 48 hours.
  • Detail Sculpting

Fine plaster layers, gesso, and modeling paste build the detailed surface — ridges, valleys, organic cracks, and contours. 3–5 passes over 7–10 days.
  • Seal & Finish

UV-resistant archival varnish in matte or satin. Protects the surface for decades. Preview photos and video sent for your approval before shipping.

Classic Material

The richest, most time-honored medium for textured wall art. Our studio artists apply thick layers of artist-grade linseed oil paint using palette knives, trowels, and broad brushes — building up buttery ridges and valleys that catch light with a warmth no other material can match.

  • Oil paint develops deeper tone over time. A piece that looks warm today will look richer in five years. It is the only medium that actively improves with age.

Oil impasto delivers the most traditional "painterly" presence — visible brushwork, rich color saturation, and a satin-to-gloss surface that interacts beautifully with warm interior lighting. From bold expressionist gestures to controlled tonal landscapes, oil is the foundation of fine art for a reason.
Best for: Living rooms, dining rooms, warm-toned interiors, traditional and transitional spaces, above-fireplace placement, and collectors who value material permanence.

Acrylic Heavy Body

Fast-drying and fearlessly bold. Our artists use heavy-body acrylics mixed with sculpting gel and modeling paste to create thick, dimensional surfaces that pop with color saturation and structural presence.

Acrylic is the most versatile textured medium — it can be built up aggressively for dramatic relief, or applied in controlled layers for subtle dimensional effects. The fast drying time means artists can build complex textures in days rather than weeks.

Best for: Contemporary interiors, colorful accent walls, children's rooms, high-energy spaces, and commercial environments that need bold visual impact.

    Mixed Media

When a single medium can't contain the idea, mixed media takes over. These works combine oil, acrylic, plaster, metal leaf, fabric, and found materials into layered compositions that reward close inspection and invite touch.
Mixed media is where craftsmanship becomes architecture. Every layer has purpose — structural, visual, and tactile. These are the most complex pieces we create.
Gold leaf, copper patina, embedded textile elements, and multi-layered paint surfaces create works with the highest material complexity and visual depth in our collection. Each piece requires our most experienced multi-discipline artists.

Best for: Statement walls, dining rooms, collector spaces, eclectic and maximalist interiors, and clients who want the most materially rich artwork possible.

How to Choose the Right Wall Art Material

The material of your wall art determines not just how it looks, but how it lives in a room. Plaster and gesso create architectural depth — white-on-white surfaces that rely entirely on shadow and ambient light. Oil impasto delivers the richest color saturation with a warmth that literally deepens over time. Acrylic heavy body offers bold sculptural texture with the fastest production timeline. Mixed media combines multiple materials for the most complex, layered compositions in our collection. Watercolor brings translucent luminosity that no opaque medium can replicate.

For rooms with strong natural side-light — a window to the left or right of the wall — plaster and 3D sculptural pieces create the most dramatic effect, as shadows shift across the surface throughout the day. For warm, lived-in spaces with ambient lighting, oil impasto adds depth and color richness without dominating. For statement walls that need maximum visual energy, acrylic and mixed media deliver bold presence.

Every material in our collection is applied entirely by hand on professional-grade canvas. No prints, no machine-applied textures. Each piece is made to order, previewed and approved by you before shipping, and delivered free worldwide with insured DHL/FedEx express.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between plaster wall art and oil impasto?

Plaster creates matte, shadow-forward texture with architectural depth (1–5mm). Oil impasto creates warm, color-rich texture with a satin-to-gloss finish (2–4mm). Plaster is best for minimalist and light-responsive spaces. Oil is best for warm, traditional, and color-driven interiors.

    Which material is most durable?

All materials are sealed with archival UV-resistant varnish and built on professional-grade canvas. With normal indoor conditions, every piece will last decades. Plaster and acrylic are the most resistant to environmental factors. Oil improves with age.

Can I request a specific material for a custom piece?

Yes. When ordering custom art, you choose the material, size, color palette, and framing. We match each commission to an artist who specializes in your chosen material.

What is 3D wall art made of?

Our 3D wall art is made using architectural-grade plaster, gesso, and modeling paste applied by hand onto canvas. The result is genuine three-dimensional depth — not printed texture — that casts real shadows and changes with natural light throughout the day.
